As the original designer of Geisinger’s Henry Cancer Center, FCA was engaged to design its significant expansion. The Henry Cancer Center’s overwhelming success in providing accessible local care for Luzerne County’s ever-growing population of Luzerne County, as well as a need to expand the types of services patients, needed for care to include services like bone marrow transplants and Cyberknife radiation treatment.
The new 5-story building doubles Infusion services to 44 bays with 7 additional treatment spaces for Apheresis with several that flex as Infusion when needed, provide space for Palliative Care, create 18 new inpatient private acuity adaptable beds for Critical Care/Oncology and 4 will be dedicated for Bone Marrow Transplant patients, and house 42 Exam rooms that serve Medical and Surgical Oncology. The existing Cancer center space was renovated to provide 19 Exam rooms for Radiation Oncology and multi-disciplinary care and a new HDR treatment room.
