The proposed building was designed as a detailed study for University of South Florida Health in Tampa for a new Heart Institute, focusing on cardiovascular research and clinical trials.
The new Institute would house four principal research areas: Regenerative Medicine, Genomics, Vascular Biology, and Diabetes; the program would include clinical trials, research labs, administrative support, and educational lecture spaces. Its design is a direct result of implementing programmatic needs: reflecting a desire taking the approach from the laboratory bench to the patient bedside, research innovations are overlaid on the academic culture, connecting the new Institute to the existing university campus.
