Virtua Health system partnered with Vantage Surgical services to relocate their Memorial Hospital outpatient surgical services center into a new state-of-the-art location. They chose to re-purpose approximately 17,700SF of an existing but vacant Acme supermarket in Moorestown New Jersey. The exterior of the building was re-imaged and a canopy and new entrances were added. The project included 4 new operating rooms, with space adjacent designed to be re-configured to a 5th OR in the future if needed. A CT-Sim lab was also located adjacent to the operating rooms. Pre- and Post-PACU includes 9 stretcher stations and 8 loungers in a mix of open bays and private rooms. The private rooms can accommodate a pediatric patient population also. The suite also contains a dedicated central sterile with 2 sterilizers and prep and packing stations, in addition to all of the code-required support spaces. As the existing ACME building has 24 feet of internal clearances, special above ceiling support systems were installed to support the ceiling-mounted operating room booms and lights.
The suite was designed to have a discreet back door staff entry and exit, in addition to supplies entry, and a dedicated discreet post-procedure discharge exit, separated from the suite's main entrance.
